A Must Read for iXFXs

A Deep Look at Xiao Zhan and his 2020 about the 227 plot

About Xiao Zhan.

Do you recently have your eyes on Xiao Zhan? You are not alone! With Douluo Continent, the Untamed and the Wolf, Xiao Zhan has gained a significant number of fans (Xiao Fei Xia, aka XFXs) outside of China. There are so many reasons to fall for him! For example…

Ranked No.1 in the “100 Most Handsome Men 2020” by Top Beauty World
Ranked No.1 in the “100 Most Handsome Men 2020” by Top Beauty World

  • Ranked No.1 in TC Candler Asia’s “100 Most Handsome Faces 2020” list
  • Ranked No.7 on TC Candler’s worldwide “100 Most Handsome Faces 2020” list
  • He is the gentle but strong Tang San in Douluo Continent
  • He is also the purest Wei Wu Xian in the Untamed
  • And the fearless Ji Chong in the Wolf
  • And soon to come powerful yet distanced Shi Ying

But once you dig deeper into Xiao Zhan’s past and understand what he has gone through, you will realize that his handsome face is no longer the main reason why you love him. He has so much more to offer, and that’s what makes him so special. Once you get to know him, his face becomes the last reason why you love him.

Brief introduction.

Xiao Zhan (肖战) was born on October 5, 1991 in Chong Qing(重庆), China. He had a somewhat normal life growing up - loving parents, only child, finished his K-12 education, graduated from college and became an interior designer. One year later, he got a call from his college professor who encouraged him to join a singing contest/reality show called “X-Fire”(燃烧吧少年), where he was voted by the fans to be part of X Nine(X玖少年团), the boy band formed by winners from the show, and started his new career.

For Xiao Zhan, this is a BIG change. He had a lot to give up - he had a very good starting point of his designer career, winning awards for his design and owning his own studio since his junior year. But his passion for singing pushed him to take a leap of faith. “Follow your heart”, a phrase that inspires so many, is so easier said than done. He did it.

However, his star journey was not all that smooth. After joining X Nine, he did not get a lot of opportunities to be on stage. He made another big move and started trying to become an actor. He made appearances in several productions in supporting roles. Finally in 2019 summer, the Untamed (陈情令), the first TV drama where he was in the lead role, premiered. He became one of the hottest stars in China within 2 months. In September, his first leading movie Jade Dynesty I(诛仙1) gained over 400 Million in box office, putting his name on the short list of actors in leading roles with solid box office performance. Not that many actors hold box office over 100M in China. At the end of 2019, Xiao Zhan became the most popular star in China.

Seeing his great potential, his competitors got anxious. In late February 2020, a plot named “227 United” was executed against him. Antis first attacked his fans using false accusations, then quickly changed their focus to him. He suffered unprecedented web bully/cyberviolence. With the goal of making him “socially dead” and the hope to lead to a suicide, antis not only made personal attacks against him, but also harassed his family members, business partners, news media, brand owners… Until now, the antis are still trying every opportunity to attack him. But Xiao Zhan did not give in. He stood strong and used the law to protect his rights. His fans (XFXs) have also rallied behind him. This unprecedented anti campaign did not destroy him but made him stronger, along with a surging number of fans and supporters. People fall in love with him after finding out the truth behind the cyberviolence and seeing the many outstanding qualities this young man has.

It’s very important for fans, especially international fans, to understand the 227 plot and the parties behind it.

The unthinkable 227 plot and Xiao Zhan’s 2020.

As mentioned above, the 227 plot is an unprecedented cyberviolence campaign against Xiao Zhan organized primarily by his competitors. Since 2019, Xiao Zhan’s competitors had made many attempts to attack him by spreading invalid rumors, falsifying Weibo screenshots to claim he made inappropriate comments against women, and even tried to build a fake Weibo account in order to mislead the public about his sexual orientation. None worked. He is so clean that they could not find anything concrete against him. Finally, they decided to change their strategy. They went after his fans. The 227 plot was then baked. The purpose of 227 is to: (1) kill Xiao Zhan, socially, if not literally (forcing him to commit suicide under huge pressure); and (2) destroy his fan base - you will suffer a lot being a XFX, why don’t you give up and become a fan of my star?

Please be patient reading through the information below. Every word below is backed by evidence. A LOT happened in 2020, and what’s mentioned below is nowhere near the full story.

It all started with a false accusation on Xiao Zhan’s fans.

  • In late February, BJYX fans (cp fans who believe Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo (the other actor in Untamed) are a real couple) widely spread a fiction using their names, in which Xiao was depicted as a prostitute with gender identity disorder and Wang as a high school student. The fiction was filled with sexually explicit content.
  • With the intentionally organized spread of the fiction along with a female prostitute illustration with Xiao Zhan’s face by BJYX accounts with 10K+ followers on Weibo, XFXs were made aware. They requested the author to remove the Weibo post where links to the fiction were provided. After many attempts with no avail, a professional anti, Banan Rabbit, who had been disguising herself as a XFX and become a fan leader, jumped out and urged XFXs to submit complaints to the authority about the fiction author’s Weibo account in order to shut it down. In China, explicit sexual content in publically available articles is illegal. On the surface, this seemed nothing wrong. So they did.
  • Just before Banan called for action, BJYX fans started rumors about XFXs wanting to report AO3 (archive of our own), a US hosted website where the fiction was housed, to the Chinese government in order to bring down the site. This rumor quickly spread with the professional anti’s help. Due to the sensitivity of government censorship, this lit a fire on Weibo.
  • Professional antis then stirred up conflicts even more, pretending as XFXs making nasty comments in a large number of communities (fan fiction, gaming, BI novel lovers, cosplay, etc.) and claiming that XFXs are going to bring down their favorite apps just because they don’t like them. These antis then gave lots of low ratings on these apps in the app stores in the name of XFXs.
  • As ridiculous as it sounded, people believed. The users of these large apps (Lofter, Douban, etc.) started battling with “XFXs”. The conflict was successfully started.

Then Xiao Zhan quickly became the target.

  • On February 28, a Super Topic called “227 United” was established on Weibo, and became the command central for antis. All antis from different communities then had a place to share information and get directions from the anti leaders. From attacking XFXs about their “hysterical” behaviors, they quickly shifted focus to Xiao Zhan, demanding him to apologize on behalf of his fans, as he did not “manage his fans well”. They also urged everyone to boycott all brands that Xiao Zhan is representing, left protesting comments in the online stores and under official social media accounts of these brands, and demanded the removal of Xiao Zhan.
  • On March 1, AO3 could not be visited by many users in China due to its weak server capacity and sudden surge of volume from China. Although people proved that some could still visit the site without VPN, and some technical experts noticed that large visit volume came from one particular data center in China, likely to be manipulated by professional web service providers, antis still claimed that the government banned the site.
  • In the afternoon, Banan Rabbit made an apology via Weibo but did not clarify that XFXs reported a Weibo account rather than AO3. Even worse, she changed her Weibo background to a picture that said “I did nothing wrong”. This made the already angry AO3 users even more outraged.
  • In the evening, Xiao Zhan Studio released a statement, apologizing to the public for taking up public resources on this matter while the entire country should have been focusing on fighting the CoronaVirus pandemic. (Note, they did not apologize to the antis!)
  • Seeing this response, the antis claimed that he would bear the consequence of “hiding behind his fans”. All the anti activities upgraded in terms of scale, intensity, and range of targets.

It turned into an unprecedented cyberviolence.

  • Since March 2020, the antis have made countless, dangerous attacks against Xiao Zhan and his fans, and anyone who chose to be on his side. On major social platforms such as Weibo, Toutiao, Zhihu, and many other smaller forums, if you support Xiao Zhan or his fans, you will soon receive comments or private messages with personal attacks and threats.

  • For Xiao Zhan himself, he suffered unthinkable cyberviolence. A few examples:

    • Antis created online funerals for XZ and video clips of cutting/burning his photo. The fact these got a lot of “likes” led to even more produced and posted. Even now they still have the website such as: xiaozhan227.com.
    • On video websites & apps where screen bullets are allowed, antis attacked his videos and covered the screen with comments like “XZ is dead”, “Why aren’t you dead yet”.
    • His grandfather passed away in early March. Antis conducted live shows where they went through the records of the cremation facility to verify his death. Once confirmed, they published malicious articles about his passing. They also physically went and tried to harass his mother who was hospitalized during the same time.
    • They wrote him into porn articles, with the other major character being a well known child-raping case suspect at the time, and him being the victim.
    • His instagram account was hacked and profile picture turned black. Antis spread rumors that he was dead. A lot of antis used VPN to access instagram in order to leave “RIP” comments.
    • They claimed that they would never let him off the hook even if he chose to leave the entertainment business, until he was “socially dead”.
    • There is too much more. Countless posts everywhere urging him to die. If you so dare, come to this post and experience a tiny bit of what Xiao Zhan went through in March: http://bbs.tianya.cn/post-funinfo-7926683-1.shtml. You will feel the chill even if you don’t understand Chinese - endless cursing and swearing.
  • For Xiao Zhan fans(XFXs), antis set up multiple plots attempting to show the public that XFXs are hysterical, irrational, and blindly following Xiao Zhan. They even tried to depict the group as politically dangerous to get attention from the authority. A few cases:

    • The antis modified a recording of a teacher who used Xiao Zhan as a case study to educate her students about cyberviolence, and claimed that the teacher forced students to support Xiao Zhan in the classroom. This led to a huge wave of criticism, including scrutinizing articles from main-stream media such as People Daily. Because of this attack, Xiao Zhan posted his famous Weibo of “I do not need fan support” and ultimately led to the dismissal of his official fanclub. According to the antis, they made a list of 13 teachers as targets for similar attacks. Once the plot was made aware, they stopped further action.
    • Anti leaders on Weibo widely spread a picture of an old fighter jet with graffiti all over it, where the words “Xiao Zhan” was clearly seen. This led to criticism from famous official media about fans not respecting history and veterans. Later more photos of the plane were shared, which revealed many other stars’ names there as well.
    • During the sale of 光点 (Made to Love), anti-faked “XFX” made drastic comments under Xiao Zhan’s Weibo SuperTopic urging student fans to buy large number of copies. Antis then captured these posts as proof of the XFX community forcing fans to buy songs beyond their financial capability.
    • KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) in the anti group spread rumors that there might be anti-government people in the XFX population. They also wanted to describe XFX as a religious organization - this is very dangerous in China.
    • Again, many more…

A lot of things proved that this is an organized crime.

  • The topic “227 United” was established before Feb.27. As early as Feb.18, there had been discussions using this topic.
  • Well before Feb.27, there were posts in entertainment forums about “upcoming big attack on Xiao Zhan”, which even pointed out the plan to leverage AO3 and Lofter and spread his prostitute image. In the Command Central (“227 United” Weibo Hot Topic), anti leaders collect leads about Xiao Zhan’s upcoming activities, then provide professional templates and scripts for antis to make phone calls and write letters to related parties, and leave protesting comments under the official social media accounts of the organizers in order to stop him from joining. It’s obvious that they are well connected with the entertainment industry and have a lot of “insider” information.
  • In China, there are thousands of self-media accounts (WeMedia accounts that primarily report on entertainment news). Most of them belong to a handful of web PR and marketing companies. Between March and July, you could hardly find any positive news about Xiao Zhan across all platforms. Later in the year, one of the account owners told his followers that a “godfather” in their industry told them to spread negative articles/news/rumors about Xiao Zhan starting in March. If you don’t want to do it, the only other option is to keep your mouth shut.
  • On May 20, 2020, Xiao Zhan’s lawyer posted on Weibo that his case is an “organized crime” and showed a statement from the Beijing Police that after reviewing the preliminary facts, they confirmed that there were criminal behaviors in Xiao Zhan’s case. Therefore a criminal case has been established by the police, and the investigation is underway.

Xiao Zhan suffered HUGE reputation damage and economic loss because of 227.

  • With the wide spread of rumors, a lot of people are misled and believe that Xiao Zhan indeed has a lot of “bad histories”. Although every rumor can be proved invalid and ungrounded, the clarification messages are always restrained especially on Weibo and never get much visibility.
  • Xiao Zhan anonymously donated 600K and medical equipment to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic. His fans were aware and praised him on Weibo. Since his name was not listed anywhere, the antis claimed that he cheated and tried to win a good name without paying for it. This became a Hot Search Topic on Weibo which created a lot of damage to his reputation. Finally Xiao Zhan Studio posted the donation receipt to clear the rumor. But as all rumors, few people followed through and would only remember the rumor itself.
  • The antis also spread untrue rumors about Xiao Zhan’s relationship with one of his male business partners, in an attempt to mislead the public about his sexual orientation.
  • In April, the antis got word that Xiao Zhan will be on the cover page of Esquire (a top Fashion magazine). They wrote templated letters in English to the global headquarters in New York to protest and spread invalid facts about Xiao Zhan. Then Xiao Zhan’s photoshoot picture was leaked by a BJYX fan, which led to the magazine removing his cover. The photographer later disclosed that Xiao Zhan not only shot for the cover, but sat with the director of the magazine for a 3-hour interview - he must have had a lot to say! Because of this leakage, his interview was also removed and he wasn’t able to make his voice heard until much later.
  • In May, he participated in an outdoor entertainment show. The antis got words and started making phone calls and protesting against it. With additional support behind the scenes, all of Xiao Zhan’s parts were cut from the program when it aired in June. The antis used this to further spread rumors about Xiao Zhan being “banned by the government”.
  • Between February and December, he wasn’t able to make any normal appearance. All performances were pre-recorded and announced at the last minute.
  • Before 227, some brands were obviously considering partnership with him. 227 brought a sudden stop to all of his commercial activities. We can’t confirm how many opportunities he lost, but insiders said “he lost much more than we thought”. One rumor was that a sports brand was ready to announce him as ambassador with posters ready to go in the stores, but pulled back at the last minute with the outbreak of 227.
  • Of course, none of the above could be compared to the emotional harm he suffered. In his 2nd interview post 227, he joked about staying alive. After what kind of experience, would someone think about staying alive?

Who’s behind the 227 plot?

We already know it’s Xiao Zhan’s competitors. The goal is to take him out of the market and win over his large fan population. Multiple parties joined forces in this plot. The biggest proof is during one of the plots of claiming teachers forcing students to like Xiao Zhan in the classroom as mentioned above, there were 6 “trending topics” with the same or similar title showing up on Weibo’s Hot Search chart near the same time (it’s public knowledge that you can pay to get on to the Hot Search chart). This means at least 6 different companies were buying this Hot Search Topic on Weibo. Even for those that did not invest, the fans of various stars jumped in and bashed XFXs during the difficult times. After 227 CXFXs have learned to ONLY focus on Xiao Zhan and no one else.

Multiple Hot Search Topics indicate different parties involved

But there were leading forces and countless facts kept pointing to one direction. I will only state the facts below for your own judgement.

Fact 1: Wang Fugui’s connection with WangYibo and his company, Yuehua Entertainment

Wang Fugui, one of the key anti leaders since the start of 227, has always focused on destroying Xiao Zhan’s commercial resources. Since June 2020, Wang Fugui spread rumors about Xiao Zhan becoming the brand ambassador for ChunZhen, a popular dairy drink brand, and asked his followers to harass ChunZhen about it On November 13, he urgently called for his followers to stop their boycotting actions, as he confirmed that Wang Yibo (WYB below) would instead be the brand ambassador. In order to prove this, he posted a picture on his Weibo where it clearly showed a finance system interface dated on November 3 with WYB’s various income items listed, relating to ChunZhen TVC shooting and another game company WYB is representing. He deleted the picture shortly after stating that the material was “too sensitive and is insider information”, but the picture had been saved by many people and was made public. This led to wide speculation on his identity. Experienced Finance professionals pointed out that only top executives or Finance leaders of a company would have access to such sensitive finance data. Only Yuehua Entertaiment (YH below) insiders should have the information Fugui shared. On December 31, ChunZhen did announce WYB as their brand ambassador, confirming Fugui’s information.

Anyone with logical thinking can ask these questions:

  1. Multiple people confirmed the financial system interface in the picture looked real. Why did Wang Fugui have access to YH’s sensitive financial information?
  2. If YH truly had nothing to do with Fugui, why didn’t they sue him for unfair business practices?
  3. If the financial information is not true, why did YH not sue him for spreading untrue rumors?
  4. The antis typically attack every potential business partner even if another star eventually gets announced. Why is WYB an exception? xiao zhan 227 wang fugui’s weibo

It’s also interesting that many of WYB’s fans call themselves WangFugui. Many “WangFugui"s are even certified “粉丝大咖” (Big Fan Influencer) in WYB’s SuperTopic on Weibo. Is this a coincidence? Just a few examples below.

Fact 2: Who did 227 leaders support?

During a fan voting event in June 2020, multiple 227 Super Topic hosts voted for WYB. They didn’t realize Weibo would generate an automatic weibo message a few minutes after they voted and randomly cue 3 of their closest friends/Weibo followers (not selected by themselves). Once they realized this, they quickly deleted their Weibo posts and called to halt the voting activities.

Fact 3: Official and large fan groups organized attacks against Xiao Zhan using 227’s typical approach

In August 2019, a picture of group chat history was leaked to the public. In this group chat, members were discussing how to spread negative rumors about Xiao Zhan. This chat group proved to be owned by the official data support team of WYB’s fanclub, and certified as WYB SuperTopic host on Weibo. The language they proposed were very similar to how 227 later attacked Xiao Zhan. After the leak, a large WYB fan group claimed that they had “enormous” negative materials about Xiao Zhan that they always were ready to share.

Just before 227, WYB’s official fan group published a series of “hard core” commentary against XZ, and the names they called XZ were exactly the same as used by the 227 antis. This so-called “hard core” document was filled with outrageously nasty language all against XZ and XFXs.

Fact 4: YH’s Professional Fan Operation department and their direct reach to fans

YH has a department specifically overseeing fan operations

Official fan clubs and influential fans with many followers receive direct communication from the company

Isn’t it safe to assume that large scale fan activities (such as 227) have the approval or even are under the direction of YH?

Fact 5: The capital connections between YH and those supporting 227

Key parties and active participants in 227 are connected to YH via different ways. One example below:

At the outbreak of 227, Wang Ran, an entertainment capital company CEO forwarded an article from a famous 227 KOL, further expanded the impact of the incident.

Later people realized that Wan Ran’s company was the financial advisor in YH’s venture capital investment financing.

Interestingly enough, this 227 KOL revealed her support of WYB in a much later post in 2021. xiao zhan 227 yue hua’s relationship with yi kai

Fact 6: YH’s partnership with the social media king Colorful Tech

As a result of this partnership, Xiao Zhan’s negative news always appeared on Weibo “Hot Search” at the usual No.17 ranking, the so-called “annual subscription” spot for WYB’s positive news when needed. Many of the big self media accounts also post identical messages on a regular basis - positive on WYB and negative for XZ. During 227, those who voiced their support for Xiao Zhan on Weibo either received no reads of their posts (not made publicly visible), or had their account suspended. The media attack on XZ went across most major social media platforms and key news channels.

Fact 7: “When in doubt, follow the money”. Who benefited the most from 227?

After the outbreak of 227, the one star that quickly rose to the top is WYB. His media coverage and business resources EXPLODED.

After Untamed became popular in 2019, Xiao Zhan was leading in the total number of brand resources amongst the two. After 227, WYB became the top star on Weibo Hot Search Chart (the major indicator of popularity & media coverage) and took on 25 new brands till end of 2020 as their representative/ambassador, topping all other C-stars.

During 227, anyone who spoke up for Xiao Zhan was bullied and harassed. Former colleagues were attacked. However, WYB, the supposedly “close” partner in the Untamed and said to be “close friend” to Xiao Zhan, was an exception. Antis even proactively protected his business resources even when there was speculation that Xiaozhan might become the brand representative. WHY?

Because of the many commercial resources he gained during 2020, WYB joined the “Billion Dollar Club” on the “2017-2020 Most Wealthy Stars” chart with a whopping 1.12 Billion RMB total income. Xiao Zhan on the other hand, did not earn a spot even with the excellent performance in 2019.

How did Xiao Zhan managed through the crisis?

Xiao Zhan stood firm on his principles throughout the crisis. He did not give in to the powerful dark forces. Nor did he separate himself from his fans as his competitors had hoped. On the contrary, he did everything he could to lead his fans out of the trap filled with desperation, sorrow and revenge.

  • At the beginning of 227, Xiao Zhan studio released a statement urging everyone to focus on fighting the pandemic and not distract public resources on this issue.
  • On March 21, 2020, after overwhelming negative media coverage, Xiao Zhan studio supported XZ fan club to establish Xiao Zhan Fans Energy, a charity group that offer channels for XFXs to engage in various charity activities, such as supporting the fight against COVID and helping farmers in rural areas. In 2020, XFXs donated nearly 100 million RMB through charity projects.
  • On April 25, 2020, Xiao Zhan released his second digital single “Spotlight” (also known as “Made to Love”) with no advanced promotion. Fans and supporters found a place to pour their thoughts and love. Quickly, many forums were established under the song, and sales volume set the Guinness record of fastest selling digital track in China.
  • On May 6, 2020, Xiao Zhan first appeared on video in an interview by Zhongxin Jingwei, a mainstream media. In this interview, he said he disagreed with the belief that idols must manage their fans, stating that he believed him and his fans are equal.
  • On June 11, Xiao Zhan appeared in a low-income town in Heibei province to help support the local business. He led by example and showed his fans his commitment to social responsibility. He also accepted an interview, in which he said: “I have nothing to fear, as I am stronger now than before.” “All my experiences are a fortune to me, and I can even brag about [the cyberviolence experience] when I am old.”

Summary

All in all, we saw a strong character through this crisis. Someone that has strong principles and doesn’t give in easily; someone that cares about his family, friends and fans; someone that never gives up and always prepared to seize any opportunities; someone that earns the respect of more and more people.

Now that 2020 is over, Xiao Zhan has had a strong comeback in 2021, with even more supporters. His competitors probably never imagined this outcome. They planned a plot, almost did the trick but forgot to consider the fact that people have their own judgement when they see the facts, and many still believe in justice, dignity, and goodness. Xiao Zhan is on his way to become an international superstar, a legend with many more stories to tell.

A special message for the Untamed fans

If you got to know Xiao Zhan through the Untamed and enjoyed the abundant Xiao Zhan & WYB videos on social media, the above understandably would be disturbing and tough to swallow. But many like you in China have gone through the same journey, and decided to face the brutal fact.

On Netease Music (a digital music platform in China like iTunes), fans who purchased a song can set up group chat forums under that song. Under WYB’s song “Wu Gan ‘’, there is a group called “WYB and His Sisters”. This is a group consisting of former WYB fans who purchased WuGan when it was released at the end of 2019 but decided to not only stop being his fan, but also speak up about his dark side and the dirty tricks by his team. Many were CP fans who love both XZ and WYB, and after they realized the truth behind 227, they were angry about being misled and started listing WYB’s wrongdoing in this forum. YH monitors this forum closely and continuously deletes messages that include compelling facts about WYB and YH’s unethical tricks to bring down XZ (and others). Today, the total number of former fans in this forum reached over 10K. Remember, all of them PAID for WYB’s song and later decided to turn against him. They are angry about being deceived and feel so guilty about their behaviors as CP fans during 227. It’s really sad that so many people are heartbroken and struggling to get over it.

BJYX is a commercially run scheme started from the very beginning when the Untamed was shot. It was a carefully planned plot, filled with techniques and tricks designed by psychology experts. Those who have never been exposed to the RPS (real person slash) concept will easily fall into their trap.

How can a XFX become a WYB fan and ultimately turn his/her back against Xiao Zhan? BJYX is a huge brain-washing “fan transformation” machine. If you start with Xiao Zhan but now are already watching YiZhan or BJYX channels on Youtube, Twitter, Instagram etc., please take some time to reflect how you get here.

  • You watched the Untamed and fell for Xiao Zhan.
  • You got pushed the “behind the scene” clips of Untamed where you see “sweet interactions” between the two actors.
  • Videos with BJYX or YiZhan tags were pushed to you. You started enjoying these clips and were led to believe they truly are good friends, if not a couple.
  • As you continued enjoying the BJYX tagged videos, more and more videos were pushed to you not related to Untamed, but simply about the two actors.
    • These videos typically emphasized/exaggerated any feminine side of XZ, and depicted WYB as “Young, Fearless, Madly in Love”.
    • These videos implicitly influenced your impression of Xiao Zhan to be weak, superficial, overly depending on WYB, while WYB as “the man”, in charge, and the stronger one amongst the two.
    • Some BJYX videos will also cover footage of them individually. The desired outcome: You perceive Xiao Zhan as a boring, heartless beauty with no charisma, yet WYB as “quick to learn, always passionate about new things, courageous and will not be manipulated”.(You will realize how wrong these perceptions are once you find out the truth!)
    • Some of the videos might also demonize XFXs and sing praise for WYB fans. A few facts for BJYX fans to know:
  • In Jinjiang forum (a forum filled with professional antis), a technical glitch caused the leak of customer ID information. People found out that one particular customer ID was associated with multiple account IDs on the forum. These accounts generate many posts every hour on the forum, some posting pro WYB info, some posting anti comments on XZ, and some acting as BJYX fans. This ID also first released the famous “9 minute” video. It was obvious that this was a professional fan operation staff.
  • Many BJYX Big Influencers on Weibo have either admitted that they got paid for creating BJYX materials or have been found out to be YH employees.
  • The BJYX SuperTopic in Weibo was initially established by WYB fans.
  • WYB has many other CPs, the most famous being 博翰世初 with Li Wenhan, another Uniq member. All of the tricks of making CP are the same - BJYX is a simple repeat. If you go to their SuperTopic on Weibo, you will find even more “candies” to enjoy.
  • BJYX videos around their interactions are almost always edited - once you see the full video footage, you will realize what you take away from these videos are far from the truth.
    • Example 1: the famous “Zhan Ge, brother loves you” clip - what you didn’t see is before WYB said this, Xiao Zhan was rehearsing his words for the shot, asking the old lady whether they could sleep there for the night. WYB suddenly interrupted him saying “sleep? Sleep with me!” Xiao Zhan was initially shocked and then gave him a “disgusted” look, murmuring “what the xxxx” (not swearing in Chinese but it’s the same meaning). Then he turned and walked away, and WYB shouted at him “brother loves you”. If you watch the whole clip, this scene is very close to a sexual harassment situation at work. You will not feel any “sweetness”, but rather angry and shocked.
    • Example 2: in a “Behind the Scene” clip released recently, XZ was told to praise WYB in front of the camera. After the shooting XZ said to WYB “why would I praise you if he hadn’t told me to? I’d be sick if I do so”. But what you see in BJYX videos are all the high praises XZ sang in front of the camera, not knowing these are by instruction/scripted.
  • Almost all social media platforms have linked XZ materials with WYB or BJYX tags. Search “Xiao Zhan” and you will always see BJYX materials. You will see BJYX or WYB accounts suggested for you in Xiao Zhan topics, and if you play a XZ video on these platforms, most likely the next one to play would be a BJYX one. This is no coincidence. This is how they lure XFXs into BJYX.
  • NONE of the intimate “couple” pictures you see on social media is true - they are all photoshopped from two separate pictures where they take with a different person or from a group photo others “erased”. Recently one of the BJYX big accounts also released all the pictures s/he used to produce these “sweet photos”.

Xiao Zhan’s long-time fans never believed the BJYX scheme, because they know Xiao Zhan well. He is a powerful man with strong will and dignity. He was raised in a family full of love and with traditional Chinese values. He is nothing like how the BJYX scheme tries to depict him.

If you truly love Xiao Zhan, get to know him beyond his handsome face. Go watch “Our Song” season 1, “X Fire”, and all of his interviews. Once you know the real Xiao Zhan, you will not fall into the trap of BJYX, or it will help you get out before it’s too late.
